Iran held by Japan at AFC U-19 Championship

Iran played out a goalless draw against Japan in the AFC U-19 Championship on Monday.
In the match held at Bahrain National Stadium in Riffa, the both teams were denied by the woodwork on several occasions, with Iran seeing an early effort bounce off the line and out, but it was a night of frustration for the two teams as they cancelled each other out.
Qatar defeated Yemen 1-0 and the result means Qatar joins Japan at the top of the group on four points, with Iran on two and Yemen eliminated with no points from two games.

"My team was organized and disciplined, with the players covering space well. They played very well on the counter attack, there's a good culture here and they help each other play well, Peirovani said.
"Japan had more possession but this was intentional. We gave them the ball and then denied them space,” he added.
Iran will meet Yemen on Thursday and Japan play Qatar.
